Expert Pediatric Optometrists: Nurturing Young Vision for a Bright Future.  Then text goes underneath.

Vision is fundamentally the most critical sense for a child’s learning and development. With an estimated 80% of information coming through their visual system, it acts as a primary gateway to how children perceive, interpret and engage with their environment. Healthy vision is crucial for cognitive and fine motor skill development as well as academic success.

Children often are unable to report visual problems because they assume how they see is normal. Undiagnosed visual problems can severely impact their learning, leading to possible developmental delays.

Our team is dedicated to providing comprehensive eye exams to detect early onset of conditions such as strabismus, amblyopia, and myopia. Aided by advanced technology, we can accurately assess your child’s visual system and provide them with the appropriate support to ensure they develop optimal vision.

During our exam, we conduct a series of age-appropriate tests to evaluate:

  • Visual acuity: The ability to see clearly near and far.

  • Eye tracking ability: The skill to smoothly follow an object, which is crucial for reading fluently.

  • Eye alignment and focus ability: The ability for both eyes to work together and change focus to support attention and depth perception.

  • Overall health of the eye: Examining the inside of the eye.

Ontario association of Optometrist recommend a comprehensive eye exam at age 6-9 months, age 3 and annually once school begins.
